5 Mile March of Dimes Walk

On Saturday, J and I did the March of Dimes 5 mile walk. It was raining, so we both ended up pretty soaked. But, overall, it was fun and I felt like I gave myself a jump start. I wanted to run some of it, so I did. Not a lot... just enough to give my walking muscles a rest. I didn't realize how totally out of shape I had gotten. I was embarassed. However, J did play this great motivational trick on my mind. He pointed to a woman who was larger than I am and asked if I wanted her to cross the finish line before me. Every time I passed someone he pointed out, he'd point out someone else. Before long... I was doing it to myself, in my head. It worked really well. He said that's the way he used to run his PFTs in the Marine Corps. He would pick someone out and vow that he would pass them. Then, once he did, he would pick someone else out. He also said that he wouldn't allow himself to be passed. Such great motivation.

We went out Saturday night and rode the DART to dinner. It was nice. Sunday, I had to work.

Well, hubby just called to ask if I will be home at a decent hour. So... I guess that's my cue to leave. I did tell him 5:30 and now its almost 6.

I want to go on a walk when I get home... providing I have enough daylight. Go with J and the puppies... because God knows they (the dogs) haven't been on a walk in ages.

Have a good night!
